Connecting to Multiple Wireless LANs with One Card
The research report discussed the way to 'virtualize' a wireless LAN card to support multiple wireless LANs(may be in infrastructure mode or ad hoc mode). An intermediate layer is added between IP and device driver to switch the card periodically among available wireless LANs, basically a time division approach on MAc layer. An adaptive algorithm is developed to favor wireless LANs of better performance. Soft turn-on and off can be done in device driver. Each virtual lan card has an address.
This is basically something about supporting infrastructure mode and ad hoc mode at the same time. Can this be done to support cellular and WiFI at the same time? Who is doing this?
