High Definition Radio, and Satellite, and Meteor Burst Communications

HD radio technology from iBiquity Digital seems to be the most recent public wireless radio service, along with satellite digital radio from Sirium and XM. Just because audio quality has been upgraded to digital does not mean this technology will take off a bit - Who cares the quality of an FM radio while driving or working at office?

Speaking of Satellite Wireless, here is a list of existing apps I can come up with:
1) Orbiting Satellite Wireless Phone, i.e., LEO, MEO, and GEO. LEO is the trend, although Iridium, the largest and best-known LEO system was forced into bankrupt in 2000.

2) Satellite Radio, anywhere, anytime, digital

3) GPS, and other special purpose satellite such as meteorological satellite, military-use satellite, etc.

4) Satellite Data Service

Recently there has been some interesting discussion about using constantly-arriving meteor's trail to reflect wireless signals (MBC: Meteor Burst communications)--could be a backup wireless communication method for dam monitoring, remote (really remote) control, among others. Check ACM Comm's 2004/01 issue.
