Cell phone as keyboard and mouse!

A company announced software that enables a cellphone to work as mouse & keyboard. The underlying wireless connectivity is Bluetooth - to a computer.

Question: if you are close to a computer, why bother use cell phone as keyboard?

A Survey of Mobile Banking Services, CACM May 2004

Just read a very good survey of Mobile banking services published on CACM. The paper pointed out that mobile banking with mature along with next generation data service and better business model to lower cost. In fact, there are already some interesting applications such as Helsinki City Transport mobile ticketing, and Finland ST1 gas station payment using sms.

Slashdot | Motorola Plans Wi-Fi Cell Phones

The slashdot story Slashdot | Motorola Plans Wi-Fi Cell Phones pointed out a clear trend in cell phone industry. Yes, with WiFi, a lot more applications will be available on the cell phone to take advantage of data service. The story mentioned an automatic switch between cellular and WiFi for voice communication, which has been researched by many academic guys in the name of "WLAN and Cellular integration". The typical solution is to have gateways sitting between these two networks to handle handoff and billing. As far as I know, no such real system exists at this point. Maybe later, I am hoping.
